Low cost communications system between PLC to #DENSO #IndustrialRobot using TCP/IP over ethernet
The PLC is an Omron CJ2M with ETN21 card that supports socket services. The Robot HS scara robot with an RC7 controller. this has a in built ethernet port.
We have now written an function for the omron plc which will allow simple program selection, start, stop control of the robot and report back the robot status.
This reusable code is supplied free of charge to AA Robotics customers and provides a very low cost route for interfacing between omron PLC and the DENSO robot.
2 #DENSO #Robots and me have spent all day packing whiskey boxes, so now a small dram on Burn’s Night
Two VS087 900mm 7Kg payload robots working as a synchronized pair are packing whiskey bottle cartons into cases ready for the bottling line. The robots pack up to 6 cartons in two secs to meet the line cycle time.
The speed and repeatability of the #DENSO #industrial #robot range enables this task to be carried out with time to spare for the robot. The robots have internal expanding gripper which square up the cartons before placing in the cases.
New VS900mm IP67 has been installed in UK loading vertical lathe in a very harsh enviroment
The DENSO VS 087G has two sets of seals. The first protects the robot from swarf and allows the robot to be mounted in the front a machine tool. The 2nd set of seal protects against liquids under pressure. The robot unloads and loads 2 parts every 9 secs, this includes to removal of swarf from the fixtures before and after opening the part clamps. The complete cell is controlled by the robot controller.
#DENSO #Robots at IREX in Toyko. Having a huddle
4 robots which make up the new DENSO VS range were on display in Tokyo this week. Fastest and slimmest so far.
New production cells have been installed at Autosplice in the UK manufacturing parts for TRW.
In order to reduce possible down time all the equipment can be monitored and programmed over Ethernet connections.
The DENSO RC7 controller and wincaps III software allow remote monitoring and programming. The robots are VS6577G 850 mm reach 7Kg Payload
The other equipment on the production cell include Cognex cameras and Omron PLC’s, these also have remote connection ability.
So now I can sit at home rather than drive round the country when changes need to be made to machines.
Not as good as a beer robot but comes pretty close http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEMMa73S4uw&feature=digest_refresh_thu
DENSO #robot packs parts into the unknown. A box with compartments which the robot finds by looking at the edges.
VS6577G robot has a laser from Keyence mounted next to the gripper. The robot pulls the box into position, the uses the laser sensor to locate the section dividers in the box. When the next part is ready it places in in the section found. It then searches for the next compartment.
The accuracy that the box can be made to is not good enough for the placement so the laser sensor is used to find the edges in X & Y this compensates the robot place position. Accuracy in the location is better than .3mm.
The robot controller has multitasking operating system which allows the search task to work without affecting the movements.
Richard Hammond and a @DENSO #robot and the NASA space shuttle – http://bbc.in/jMEzfK 34mins into program
Engineering Connections Space Shuttle episode has a connection with a gripper and an industrial robot from DENSO.
The robot is a VS 6556 it is being controlled with a 3D mouse connected to a PC. The PC communicates to the Robot using a C# .net program and ORiN2 sofware.
The robots position is modified in XYZ by moving the mouse or moved in orinetation RX RY RZ
This shows how the ORiN software can be used to provide a simple interface to the robot.
b-CAP binary Controller Access Protocol explaination
Communication protocol based on TCP message protocol. b-CAP is one of the ORiN specifications, As it is only uses TCP as means to communicate it is platform and language independent.
The DENSO robot controller can receive and control the robot arm at intervals as small as 7ms.
Pick and place speed of .4 sec, don’t for get this is a 6 axis industrial robot. This is getting as fast as some high speed SCARA robots.

Packing it up now as we are starting a road show with it in Durham next week.
